Limerick: Currently at Level 5 -
Only restricted appointment access to the surgery at this time. Essential appointments only
We request that patients abide by the national public health advice at stay at home and restrict their movements to reduce the spread of Covid-19. We will still endeavor to do all scheduled childhood immunisations, ante-natal visits, essential phlebotomy and cervical smear taking. We wish to restrict routine visits at this time to minimise the risk of spread. Once this third wave has settled we will once again be opening up to routine visitation. If you need to be seen please contact the surgery and all appointments will be triaged according to need. We appreciate your understanding with regards to this matter. The safety of all our patients and staff is our primary concern.
NB - Key factors in reducing spread remain the maintenance of social distancing, hand washing and the wearing of facemasks/coverings.
With the raising of Covid restrictions back to Level 5 we encourage all patients to remain vigilant in relation to symptoms of this disease. Our service remains available every day Monday - Friday and our out of hours service Limerick Doc continue to provide an emergency out of hours service. We encourage patients not to ignore symptoms and to contact the surgery for advice in the setting of any significant medical issues. COVID-19 is not going away and it is important to maintain vigilance. COVID-19 consultations are done mainly by telephone and are free of charge. Similarly there is no charge for COVID-19 tests if they are required.

For those patients with cough, fever, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste they should NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY but they should self-isolate and contact us for a COVID test to be arranged. Please the following link for advice on self-isolation

Covid testing is available for all patients, medical card and private, who fulfil the referral criteria. Covid triage is available by phone and there is no charge for this service. Currently testing is being done within 24 hours of referral and results are coming back within 24-48 hours post test being done.

The children's nasal flu vaccine is now available to all children from 2 years to 17 years. The vaccine and it's administration are available free of charge. We recommend all children in this age group should receive the vaccine. For more information click on the link below:

Adult Influenza Vaccine stocks are low but we have some limited stock available. This vaccine is solely for those in high risk groups. For more information on the adult influenza vaccine please click on the following HSE link:

We would like to welcome Dr Sarah Clifford and Nurse Noreen McCarthy to the practice
Dr Clifford's Medical Card patients are transferring to our practice and are welcome at any of our surgeries

Patrickswell Surgery will close until further notice due to the inability to ensure the safety of patients due to lack of isolation facilities

The patients most at risk from this virus appear to be the elderly, those with chronic respiratory, cardiac or immunosuppressive diseases such as those on cancer treatment.
Children continue to appear to be low risk of developing serious illness due to this virus. However, children may well develop mild symptoms from disease so we need to ensure children maintain social distancing to prevent potential spread .

This is a challenging time for us all. We appreciate your patience and understanding that will enable us to minimise the impact that this virus will have. If you have any concerns please contact the surgeries
